Are you SA born and bred, or has it become home more recently? Tell us about why SA is home for you.
I have moved to SA from the Netherlands 4 years ago. It became home because of opportunities in the health and medical research and health care space, combined by an almost irreplaceable good life-style in Adelaide.
Our first place we resided within Adelaide were the Adelaide Hills, 15 mins from downtown Adelaide, and this place gave our family a very warm welcome and our best friends are all from this amazing community.
Where do you spend your time?
I enjoy many hours within the Health and Medical Innovation district, a vibrant place to be in. In my private time, we enjoy home as the pool, our kids, our neighbours and dog give us so much joy. We often decide to eat at the beach after work as it is so close by, we get some sushi, fish and chips or noodles in a box on our way to eat on the benches at the beach and go for a walk after. We do live on the other side of town from the beach, but still only 20-25mins from home. During the weekends, we enjoy the diversity Adelaide brings from wineries lunches in spring to autumn, kids sports, Morialta conservation and nature playground, the museum downtown or zoo’s, festivals when on such as the recent light show including van Gogh exhibition, short camping trips, including regular camping trips often with the parents form our school.
What do you do and why here?
Both my husband and I work in the Health and Medical sector, support the development of the innovation ecosystem, focused on partnering and attracting (global) industry to SA to accelerate on translation and innovation and develop new products and companies.
What are your favourite things to recommend to people new to South Australia?
The lifestyle in general. Part of this is the many options for short trips to just stunning places (beach, reserves, camping spots, wineries, gorges etc.) all within 1 to 2 hours drive.
What is your tip for other locals?
Between the Vines Winery. Stunning and close to the city. Gave us a bit of European/French atmosphere.
Describe SA in one sentence.
A place where all good things in life come together, an affordable beautiful home with pool, family time, great weather, surrounded by beautiful nature, great community, and many opportunities to be entrepreneurial or build your career.
What’s the best thing about living here?
Too hard of a question ;-)…for me it is that Adelaide is a place where all great things in life comes together.
What is really a plus for me, as I enjoy it on a daily basis, is the option to arrange or create a beautiful home, the housing options allow you to make a home your family can really enjoy and invite friends, a home that gives you pleasure and peace of mind.
